I bought a cheap ($16 including postage) tacho off eBay and fitted it to the Ural today. Easy install and works as advertised. Took me a while to decide where to place it but I thought directly above the speedo didn't look too bad. They use some strange wiring colours - black for positive power - green for ground and black and yellow for coil signal - came with a wiring diagram though - not sure how long it will last but at least the wiring is in place now :-) Attachments:

I recon you will have trouble trying to red line it.

I can't see the need for a tacho on my Urals, but the jerry cans and brackets Jon sells are virtually unbreakable, and look good.

It's a Ural......your supposed to look at the scenery, not the instruments.

Tweety's tacho is direct wired from the seat to the motor, and reads in my head.

Interesting - motor isn't working as hard and fast as I thought it was at 100 kph - sitting on 4500 rpm - speedo is dodgy though - I'll have to check again with the GPS speedo :-)

Depending on pusher tyre, 4th gear equates to about 23km/h per 1,000 rpm. ie around 4,000rpm at 92 km/h, which I find to be the ideal cruising speed on Speedboat.

With diligence, you can adjust the spring. As your speedo will of course be reading fast, more tension on the spring slows it down. An added bonus is that the extra tension also reduces the needle wavering. mine is now spot on accurate and steady between 70 and 100. lee
