Tanunda Finally found a decent fruit toast breakfast. The first couple of days in Burra there was nothing open before nine. When one shop did open early, we were served cold toast and frozen butter. POD cafe in Tanunda did a good job........ Saturday we did a bit of touring around. We did Menglers Hill. Great views.
Ther was a sculpture park at Menglers. I thought most of them were more less than ordinary......Chris disagreed, but he is more into that stuff than me. We went on to Eden. Another hill and more views....... Lost track of where we went next but we ended up..........oh yes....lunch at....hmm.....somewhere. So, after lunch, we found this weir and the whispering wall. AMAZING.......from one end of the wall you could talk or even whisper softly and be heard quite clearly right round the other end of the wall........

Sunday. ....... Last year, while in the same region, Chris had the mudguard fall off the sidecar a couple of times. Bolt holes being a mess of cracks etc. determined an easier fix was to fashion a new guard. This was done in mates workshop at Blanchtown. Sometime after Chris had left Blanchtown last year, he realised he had left his original guard behind. Chris being Chris, he was determined to recover this valuable piece of his Ural. So we headed for Blanchtown. First to Swan Reach where we followed the Murray for 26km on a dirt road that was as smooth as any road I have ever travelled..........bloody dusty though. Just outside Blanchtown I heard the sounds of two stroke engines and through the dust I spotted a go cart track. I was just about past the track when I also saw 4 Urals and a lot of arm waving. Gary, who was in front of me, did not notice the others stop and and disappeared into the distance leaving just a trail of dust. Norm went off after him and brought him back to the fold. Chris's mate, the storer of the guard, was at the track. After introductions, we sat and enjoyed the racing for a while. First time I have seen go cart racing on dirt......pretty impressive. We lunched, then looked at bridges and crossed the Murray. At Blanchtown there are two huge concrete bridges. Apparently the first one built was condemned after thirty years due to cancer. Now I know why SA has thirteen ferry crossings and not many bridges. It is quite interesting to see these huge bridges side by side......the older and larger just used for foot traffic. Sorry, no photo of bridges. We travelled the river road on the opposite side back to Swan Reach, where we boarded the ferry and crossed the river. More dirt roads and another big hill and of course more great views. Back at Tanunda, we adjourned to the Brewery Bar over the road from the camping ground. Needless to say, we sampled many boutique beers, had a little food and said our goodbyes. Another great Ural adventure drawing to a close.......all that was left was for us to go our separate ways to home in four different states. lee.
