SAUSAge 15 - South Australian Ural Spring Adventure (great escape).
I'm going for another ride this spring. Those of us that met up in the Flinders Ranges last year had a great time; and I plan to enjoy some more of the beauty that South Australia offers. If any Ural riders, or anyone else for that matter, wants to meet up and do the same ride I'm doing here are the details:
I plan to ride some lovely country in South Australia's mid North; spend time exploring Burra and the famous old Burra Copper Mine; overnight in Gladstone Gaol and spend a few days enjoying the northern Adelaide Hills.
Lou, Lee and I have just returned from a few brief days in the area. We spent three days riding to the SA Sidecar Rally at Mannahill, just 450km away. We rode in great country and enjoyed time in Burra, Gladstone and Peterborough; and are looking forward to spending more time there in spring.
If you are interested in riding with me all you have to do it arrange accommodation. The three places I have chosen have ample vacancies at this stage. Burra Caravan Park does not have cabins, but closeby are the Paxton Cottages, built for miners in the 1850s and very comfortable to stay in. If you choose to stay in the cottages ask for a cottages as close as possible to the Caravan Park.

I plan to ride sealed and unsealed roads, and hope to find some interesting tracks. New or inexperienced Ural riders are encouraged to join the fun. Rideing with others is a good way to quickly improve riding skills, gain comfidence and meet other owners.
Riders will need to be self sufficient, and will need to assume responsibility for their bike's repair and maintenance. Between us we have a high level of expertise, but each rider should carry basic spares. Jon Taylor is now selling Adventure Spare kits, and I'm happy to email to anyone a list of the spares I alway carry. Donuts, cables, fuses, carb inlet flanges and the like can be the difference between an enjoyable trip and a bike stuck in the middle of nowhere...........
