Looks like I stuffed up connecting the pic 😀 My arthritis hates bar slap so as on a previous Suzuki/DJP outfit I fitted a early VW bug steering dampener to AJ Ordered from vollks.com.au $61 ,a heim joint from a bearing shop(ebay would be much cheaper),two brackets from scrap angle steel . Bolted on yesterday, tested today .Magic ,almost no bar movement when looking for bumps on local roads, smooth steering, just a touch stiff below crawl speed, a dirt test on the weekend will be the final check. Every bit as good as the old outfit back in the day & best bang for ya buck going. Love it 👍 Cheers, Macca
A bit more: Once removed the Ural hydraulic damper can be push-pulled with very little resistance & even leaked a drop of oil while testing. The VW dampener has a fair amount of resistance, heaps more than the Ural, probably by a factor of 10 . Over on Soviet Steed there is lots of info, tests & ride reports on a similar device. All who have fitted the VW dampener to any model Ural have been very impressed.

Too true Macca. That and the other variant can be found on a large number of outfits around the world. I am at the point of doing it to Tweety as well.
