Just remembering that on my Cape York trip, following some minor adjustements to my Ural in Townsville, I did TV to just south of Mackay in an afternoon. Then Brisbane the next day then Gunadah then home to Melbourne..... So three and a half days Townsvill to Melbourne......on a Ural, anything is possible..!
Nathan, is it a one way trip ?

This time, from Manna Hill, I had to fly to Pittwater to pick up the boat.....again I had just one day at home. Heather reckons I only come home to get my washing done. I do enjoy cruising on the Ural but sometimes distance just has to happen AND a Ural can do it......well proven fact.

Have a great trip. If its possible I will try to catch you in Melbourne.......keep us informed. Your times are a bit optomistic...take a tip from a well travelled one and limit your speed to 90kph max. Let us know which way you are going from Canberra. God forbid you should have mechanical issues but there is much help here in Melbourne...... Travel safe and enjoy. Def limiting my speed! My buddy was just over from the states and we did 1500km in 3 days. Was great but it was me testing the bike! Went 100kph most of the trip but def felt the bike was happy at 80-90, so will stay in that range! Lost my speedo as well at the end of the trip as well! Really excited and will def contact you when we come rolling in!

Have to agree with the comments above re. estimated distance covered, speed etc. My trip from Lithgow NSW to Yuendumu NT on the Tanami Rd and back home via the Oodnadatta Track in August had me averaging 328km per day over 18 travelling days (rest/camp days not included in the calcs.) Your projected average works out to be 447km/day. Allowable cruising speed and distance covered per day is obviously a function of many things, your own personal stamina, tolerable fuel consumption, load carried, road & weather conditions, the machine itself, etc, etc. For me, I found 80km/hr to 90km/hr felt best. Also my payload (self included) was about 100kg overweight. Check my post in this section from August, you might find a bit of useful info there regarding fuel consumption, average price/litre etc. Sounds like a great run, have a safe and enjoyable trip. Let us know how you progress. Thank you so much for the advise! This is an outline and we are planning to reach this but not going to over do it! Will keep you posted ever step of the way!

Hello Nathan. I agree with all the above and I would strongly suggest a night in Albury from Canberra, there's a bed and garage parking here for you (Zillah would love the company), let us know. Enjoy the ride and don't go through Albury without calling in. Orders! Rob 0407 254 368.(E:briardale@exemail.com.au) Thank you so much! We will see how we are doing on time and let you know if we can make the stop! Would love to but on a little scheduled due to having to find a new place to live in Adelaide before I head off to the states for a month!

Your kms/day are OK mate! BUT! the time you reckon you can do them in………I don't know. Keep us all posted because it's a good Ural exercise in kms/day, hrs to do them kms and whether your rig will stand up to the speeds needed to stick to your posted trip times. In any case mate there is a great TOUAREG saying "Better to walk without knowing where, than to sit doing nothing" Good on you and safe travels. Cheers Wheels Thanks for the support! I like setting stupid lofty goals! But we will take time if we need to! Can't wait to share and update on progress!

I agree with Wheels... the times are not even nearly realistic. The distances you could do but after the first couple of days it'll be a grind. You aren't planning on coming down here (Bega) but yell if I might be able to help with anything. Thank you! Less than 2 weeks and will see how it goes!

Lady is being posted to Adelaide for a year then probably off to Perth for a year. After that, Brissy for 2 years!! You can guess which way I'm going to get there!!! Determined to circle this country and then make my way inward!
