I heard that the road will be fully sealed by 2020 to Cape York . $500,000 per kilometre x 800km is $400,000,000 plus budget blowout = half a billion dollars.......excluding compo to the diggies.....don't expect it will happen anytime soon.

Thanks. The two proposals sound great. Keep posting on how to link in with these rides. I live in NSW outside the Canberra Region.

Hi Robosmoke, since you are around Canberra why don't you come to the Alpine Rally at Yarrongabilly Queens birthday weekend.

Hi Lee, that sounds like a "snappy" camping site. Thanks for the information but I definitely will still have the trainer wheels on as I have not taken delivery as yet. Should happen about the 20th of this month.
Cheers Robosmoke

2019......AUGUST ? BRISBANE TO CAPE YORK Via Daintree, Cooktown. Possible ferry/ship.... Cairns to Bamega or vice versa for those wishing to do a "one way" ride.
Any progress or developments for the Cape York run?

Any progress or developments for the Cape York run? Need someone to put their hand up for a bit of organising Bruce......is that you ? I have done that trip with my Ural and it was very special and great. If a group can be arranged it would be really good to have a support vehicle with trailer.......it is a very very long expensive way out if someone has major problems as did my mate with his Ducati outfit.......ferry trip to Cairns then road freight to Melb. For the bike and plane trip for him as the ferry could not take him with the bike. The Duke broke the frame at the head stem....would never happen to a Ural. Don’t let that put anyone off. It is a “life time” trip.....😀👍

lee Sounds like a fatal injury for the poor old Duke and an expensive trip back home - rotten luck. No, I'm no organiser, I'm flat out organising myself, but I'll be doing this run regardless. Cape York has been on the bucket list for years now. Have to start planning soon, looking forward to it and hoping all the water has drained off by the middle of the year.

Bruce, the only planning needed is to say “I intend to go here and probably stay here on this and that date.. Anyone is welcome to join me”. That is how our Ural trips are done and that removes any legal liabilities........we are just friends going on a trip together.
I am interested in going again dependant on dates and my busy calendar.
