Thanks, great pic's, gives me a good idea of the difference. Is that the one you got from Grovsey? Looking at that will give me that extra inch or so that I think I need, the height is interesting but in the case of taller people not such a bad thing. One thing I noticed with my tractor solo is that it has two rubber buffers. IPB says one. I seem to have two. Anyone confirm how many are meant to be there? Did someone add one to firm up the ride? A common addition for heavier people. When I test rode a bike with this seat I spent most of my ride hanging onto the bars to not slide off the back of the seat as it had sagged so much from my weight.

I hope it just needs time to bed in, which to be fair the bench seat needed too. First impression is that it's a very hard seat.

I am hoping the new (original) bars will make a difference, test ride tomorrow afternoon. I like the solo tractor seat but it needs a bit more cushioning to stop the frame digging into me. Not difficult to overcome but I won't have time to sort it.

The rear edge of the seat forms a hard ridge as if there's wire in there. It wouldn't take too much to convince me to go back to the original dual seat. Hint

Test ride on the 2/3 seat. 220 kilometers on tar, dirt and windy roads that is pretty much my normal run for a Saturday. I find the 2/3 seat hard but comfortable. It seemed to soak up smaller bumps and on the dirt I thought it was kinder to my back. I finished the ride wanting to go for another lap. Is it better than the Italian Bench? For me it is, there is something about the profile that suits where I sit on the bike. This is the 2/3 Seat fitted.
This gives you a better idea of the issue I had, I really like the Italian Bench seat but it just wasn't long enough. The rise in the middle of the seat was too close to the front. On the 2/3 the rise is flatter, even though it is almost the same length. Only talking 6cm here but it makes a huge difference. The seats are the same width almost but the side profile is different. I have tried the tractor solo - the only thing it had going for it was it looked good Big run coming up in November - will let you know if it is for sale after that....

Quick Update - No sale. I like the 2/3 solo. The ride is hard but the seat isn't if that makes sense. I guess my fat arse has beaten it into submission, did 1,200 kilometers in 2 days and was happy with the level of comfort.
