At this point if I was going to mess around with a solo seat I'd get the new Ural one...

Genuine URAL .... I bought myself a solo seat identical to the 'Raceway' seat from Ural of New England in the US last year to replace the stock solo seat on my 2015 Ranger. A huge improvement over the old cordura clad rubber original with its metal frame that dug into my arse. Pricey but worth it. Only downside was that the metal base required one of the mounting holes to be plugged and re-drilled to fit properly and I made some aluminium spacers for the coil spring ends in lieu of the washers it came with (Ivan seems to love using f...ing washers instead of proper spacers - I might write a treatise on "1,001 Uses for Washers" sometime before I die). The hole that I welded a plug into before re-drilling in the correct position.

This is a seat I'm thinking of.... they seem to be calling it a 2/3 length, but it's a solo to me...

Be interesting to test one of these 3/4 solo's . At just under $500 it isn't the cheapest mod. I just spent $200 on an original solo seat from a wrecked 14 Tourist. It is hard but way more comfy compared to the bench seat my 15 Tourist came with. I am just over 6' and find that the rise in the bench seat is about where I want to sit which doesn't work. The new solo gives me a little extra room but looking at this it might be even better.
Anyone have one?
Ride report?

Won't be long now though. The seat is sitting there waiting and one thing that's obvious is that it's a bit thicker than the bench seat. Possibly about an inch which would give you some more legroom. I'll see if I can get a comparison photo tomorrow.

At least an inch higher than the standard seat.

Ok, challenge of the 2/3rd seat: the two rear mount bolts that go through the mudguard. Unless Julie can get her little hand in there to get the nuts on putting the seat on/off will involve removal of the rear wheel.
That sucks.
I have a plan, I just need to find someone with a welder. I think if the two nuts are welded to a bridging strip of metal and the bike is on the center stand I'll be able to get them into place without ripping too much more skin from my hand.

Thanks, great pic's, gives me a good idea of the difference. Is that the one you got from Grovsey? Looking at that will give me that extra inch or so that I think I need, the height is interesting but in the case of taller people not such a bad thing. One thing I noticed with my tractor solo is that it has two rubber buffers. IPB says one. I seem to have two. Anyone confirm how many are meant to be there? Did someone add one to firm up the ride?
