Love Tassie, been there twice before with four wheels under me, doing it on the Ural is on the bucket-list. Bad luck about shearing the valve stem off. I've wondered why there's no rim locks fitted as std but it's not been a problem for me yet thankfully. What tyre pressure were you running? Safe travels.

Hi Bruce, yeah been living here all my life, but since buying the Ural, we’re really having fun exploring. i was running 40 on rear, including gravel. Maybe bit much maybe? Yes, strange, 40 lb is what's recommended, a little less on the dirt maybe. Just something to keep an eye on and maybe leave the valve stem nut loose if you haven't already. I've never tightened the valve stem nuts on my bikes, always leave them backed off a quarter turn or so just so I can see if the valve begins to 'lean over' indicating tyre creep on the rim. Then you get a chance to do something about it before disaster hits.

40 psi fine. I would bet you had a puncture prior to the valve pulling out. You don’t need rim locks because there is minimal to no advantage on the Ural running the tires at low pressures.

I was last there in Feb/Mar 2015, great time of year, had perfect weather for most of my time there as well. Look forward to it. Bruce
