A little starting issue in the apine region recently led me to pull the headlamp plug to aid cranking voltage. Back at home, decided to fit a switch to the headlamp so it can be turned off if necessary. Thinking about the way lights are wired, I decided to use the earth wire as the swithching medium. There is a benefit......are you all ππ ? With the earth disconnected, power to the low beam light is able to pass through the filament to the common earth connection in the globe base. It can then pass through the high beam filament and on to the high beam warning light and then to earth. The result being.....when I switch the low beam off, the high beam dash light comes on to remind me..... the headlamp filaments do not operate as there is only a tiny current that is able to get through the led warning light. ππ
