Needs to be a very open flow filter element. Even the replacement K&N element is far more restrictive than original element and causes over rich mixture. You will notice it most at the pump. We proved this recently on the trip to Tamworth. K&N eqiped bike used 40-50% more fuel. Fixed it by changing filter to genuine. And yes, before you ask, the filter was newish and clean. So, fit the filter but please do your homework and testing so we can have all the results pleeeeease.

Lee .. The Donaldson filters are a paper design for industrial use .. I have seen them on all sorts of vehicles from trucks to 4x4s , tractors , harvesters so I think it should be good on the Ural if I get the right size to fit ..
Will show a pic soon....
Thanks for the encouragement Michael .. And thanks for the replys Guy's

G'day 650guy, After tinkering around with the same idea that you had, including a bowl pre filter, all I can say that if the inlet is less than 70mm about 2 3/4" it won't run to good. So I made my own housing that uses a P822686 Donaldson filter. This filter type has only one opening but by wadding out the blank end, the engine can then breath from both ends. I also use a pre filter sock, used for off road bikes, worked real well on my 640KTM, over a large spring that go's over the intake. I've done around 5000ks with this system, averaging about 30 to 35 mpg or around 8.0 Lt's/100 Km's using 45 pilot and 130 main jets.

Hi Tone ..
Think it will work as I have a few around on the farm on other machinery .. The biggest would be a Perkins PTO motor that we use for unloading the 86ton silo's in 5 minutes into Roadtrains .. So I'm goin with this one for moment an by any chance it don't do it then I may put a second one on for one each side setup ....
