Never come across a water cooled Ural, maybe on the Innaminka track , so a new idea develops . Mine has been "water cooled" plenty of times.......but Norm is the expert.....or maybe Chris took that honour when he drowned his beast.

On the road........
Met Tone, Ava, Dave and Anny at the Calder roadhouse this morning. Light lunch at Charlton and now camped at Lascelles. Nothing much exciting today except for departing Melbourne. Damned cold on the road today....... Into South Australia tomorrow and probably stay at Morgan. Should be better roads to ride and warmer in the days ahead......

Peddling...
Bike has a new feature - turn key on, press start button, all power goes away.
Turn motor over manually just a little, power comes on and it starts fine with the button. Strange.

In hindsight, when foot turned over engine with kickstarter it was probably nudging the battery lead into better contact. For any who don't know, the battery failed with a melted terminal in Broken Hill. Presumably the bolt clamping the lead to the terminal had worked loose and was shorting out.
