Righto, the above is our two pads, wearing but still have life although I am unsure of new thickness, both pistons free etc, no dead birds or tree stumps in there so no apparent reason....yet. Everything back together and same same with pusher wheel locking and SC wheel freeloading

What was the state of the sacrificial washer behind the castellated nut and its washer???

One possibility as Lee suggested could be a sticking master or slave cylinder. Either dirt/water or damage. Maybe when you had the short pushrod pushing at an angle, that could maybe have done some damage. I would start with servicing the master cylinder. And remember cleanliness is very important and only use fresh brake fluid. I don't know where you are now, but you're most welcome back at my shed.

Also before reassembly of a brake cylinder, use brake fluid for last clean. This will help remove possible contaminants.

Hi, As Lee said,
"SC master cylinder piston not returning fully? They can clagg up if water gets in."
I had issues with my rear brake sticking on. The mechanic said it was gunge in the master cylinder,(at my right foot).
Just a thought.

Much appreciated, will have a look at SC cylinder shortly, we are above Lony at present heading to Evandale then to Burnie for new rubber

Afternoon all Ok, above is a pic of the SC caliper taken from the front in place tightened, it is reasonably well off centred but cannot go any more and it is snug to the mounting bracket. The outer piston would not move all the way in so I manually plunged it after disconnecting the link. A quick scoot around camp hasn't netted anything. More to try but is the caliper that far off centre a big concern?

Not an issue provided it does not touch the disc. There is a washer on the axle ( before the wheel is on) that you could replace with a thinner one if necessary.
Have you checked the disc on the bobbins?? Tight??
