Count me/us in. Sounds like a great opportunity for the first adventure on the Ural. Keep me posted on the finer details.

Calling Piper.....hello piper...
Have had a query regards road conditions for the area.....getting to the station and then on to Lincoln. Are the roads suitable for a standard road type caravan ?? Not much clearance etc on mates van..
cheers, lee

Hi Lee,
Yes most roads are good for entry/exit to Mt Ives , the other trails to certain camping spots within the Park would be hard yakka so I guess for your mates van into Mt Ives is good with one proviso ! any more than 5mm of rain in 24hours makes it a challenge for any vehicles.
cheers
Rob

We had 200+mm of rain in less than three days here in northern NSW last week and still rolling!…..5mm in 24hrs to shut things down in the Gawler Ranges!…..maybe! just maybe! we need to have a plan "B" just in case that happens!….Old Army training kicking in

Maybe the SA soil is less able to suck up the big down pours like NSW , I actually stuffed up with the 5mm , should be 15mm , typo. Its not so much the rain amount but more so the Parks and SA Roads close the roads to limit damage, some areas have big signs with large dollar $$$ amounts as a deterrent , get caught pay the fine if driving on a closed road .
Plan "B" we can adjust to the challenge if the weather does not behave , lots of black tar roads and locations we can explore should it rain !!!
