Had a call from SEASA Ferry mob today cancelling our booking from Wallaroo to Lucky bay return for the Gawler ranges trip. They are shutting down. Apparently some long term construction work on the terminal where they load and the public will not have access. So for us its via Port Augusta. Cheers Wheels Bummer that is bad news , I will need to rehash my trip plans now and put up some ideas for the trip via Port Augusta . Look up Nutbush retreat on the western side of Port Augusta about 42kms out on the Eyre Highway , P.A. has some issues with the locals, even the west side foreshore caravan park locks the gate in the evenings. cheers Rob Adds a few more kms to the trip Rob but all part of the fun!. Sounds like Port Augusta hasn't changed much since we went through there 15 years ago. Couldn't get out of there quick enough!…..Nutbush looks good, we may do a night or two there and give PA a big miss. By the way Toni and Slick from Alice Springs are going to meet us at Mount Ive. Cheers Wheels

News & Updates Lucky Bay Shoreside Facility Construction Suspends Sea SA Ferry Service Created: 10 August 2017 MEDIA RELEASE Thursday 10th August 2017 South Australian ferry company Sea SA Pty Ltd, has announced the temporary suspension of its Spencer Gulf Ferry service, due to construction of the export/import shore side facilities at the Lucky Bay terminal. Services are due to recommence September 2018. Site safety is of the upmost importance during this construction phase of the export/import shore facilities and with the machinery required for the works, we have therefore been advised that it would be unsafe to have the public onsite.During this closure, deepening of the Lucky Bay approach channel will also commence and this is expected to take approximately four months to complete. Our reservations offices at both Wallaroo and Lucky Bay will remain staffed and open from now until recommencement of the service. Sea SA’s management take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal customers, tourism operators and supporters. We also thank our dedicated vessel crew as well as office staff both at Wallaroo and Lucky Bay, and with their help and we look forward to resuming the service later in 2018.

Hi all, I have been quiet on the forum of late but hope to be posting more info on The Gawler Ranges Adventure in April next year , now that the ferry from Wallaroo to lucky bay is defunct for a year most of us shall have to traverse through Port Augusta which has bridge problems [ yep a main highway at the crossroads has restrictions ] Political war on who is going to replace and pay for a new bridge, at this stage its a slow speed and maybe load restrictions crossing.
If anyone has any questions about next years adventure trip feel free to message me [0422338054 ] hopefully you have called the Mt Ives station and reserved suitable accommodation or a camp site to suit your needs and also decided on your Port Lincoln accommodation needs as well.
Cheers
Rob
