Good that the Ikons are user serviceable at reasonable cost, I seem to remember reading that one OEM Ural shock is $300.00 ? Did Ikon recommend oil ?

Geoff is sending me a few helpful photos, we haven't spoken about oil yet, but I am willing to guess that is included in the documentation with the seals.
Ordered my seals yesterday as well as a spring compressor since they had one available. I mentioned that I was a little disappointed in the failure and they said that normally they would suggest sending it back for a bit of surgery to see why it failed, but given the backlog of work he was reluctant to recommend that. They are, by all accounts, snowed under and haven't really caught up since the fires/covid etc. The covid thing I understand given more people died in the last 12 months that any other period of the pandemic... but we are all vacc'd and its over right. /rant
Yes, I was quoted around $300 shipped a few years ago which is why I switched to the iKons.

Andy!…like your Covid comment. Exactly 3 months ago (to the day) Bobsie and I copped Covid and yesterday both tested positive again for round two. Both vacc’d and persist with masks, but natural immunity from round one?…my ass! (well if it was there it didn’t last to long). Glad you sorted out your IKons. 😎

And NO we are NOT over it by any stretch. Still 15 to 20 poor folks passing away in Vic daily. Govt not reporting and pretending it's done with. What BS! Makes me so angry. Get well to you both. Our neighbours just returned from OS with it as well.

Did a re test this morning after a gut feeling I’d screwed up and correctly read a negative (Bobsie must have copped the flu or some other nasty) For my part….”There's no fool like an old fool” but better to own up! 😎

Their Oil recommendation :- The oil to use would be an SAE 5 or as much as SAE 10 (while there is a large difference in the number from 5 – 10 the performance difference is subtle rather than as course as the numbers might suggest)
Based on that, availability and price I will be using 10. I also got their spring compressor ($160) because I am lazy and couldn't be arsed spending a day looking for enough material to try to fabricate something. I could have halved the cost getting a cheap chinese thing off the web with an indeterminate arrival date and seriously dodgy reviews, but chose not to follow that path either. Compressor in action

Has anyone tried Koni's ?
Ikon is the Australian spin off from Koni when it split. Ikon-Oz, Koni-U.S.
Cheers
