I've seen river crossings that turned Urals into boats! Yes, have done a few of those........not keen on the salt water in the 5km radius near my place though. 🤣 . Feel for the Vics who are doing it tough. Is it possible to post pics on this thread? I don’t seem to have the same menus as on the other forum topics. Or maybe I’m blind !!

To your east the drought is still quite visible, the Muswellbrook to Tenterfield run is still very dry. Almost everything on the highway from Wallabadah to Guyra is for sale. Friend of mine crossed through Goondiwindi the other day and said it was a breeze, he had the most recent border pass. Enjoy . Cheers andyH, plenty of water all the way to Bourke, the Darling has a decent flow as well.

Day 2&3. Cold start from Cowra then good riding up the Lachlan to Bogan Gate. Took the Bogan Way (no jokes please) passing through Tullamore, Tottenham and into Nyngan. Very quiet roads and in my mind better than steaming up the Newell hwy. Got passed by 3 diplomatic plated vehicles on the Bogan Way, couldn’t make out any nationality but I suspect that they’re QLD bound and would prefer to travel a less conspicuous route 😎😎. Good steak at the Australian hotel in Nyngan & happy to see the staff taking the COVID seriously. Early start along the Mitchell hwy, still plenty of water making pull overs muddy. Into Bourke mid arvo set up camp in local c/van park, perimeter fence electrified obviously to keep out any wandering stock. Plenty of rumour mongering amongst the grey nomad community about the complexity of getting into QLD. Apparently I’ll have to sacrifice my first born to get past the guards 😆😆😆. Border shuts Saturday, am ready to cross tomorrow to Cunnamulla; will see how that goes. Weather forecast for heavy rain starting tomorrow for 2 days. Might spend a layover at Cunnamulla in the tent. No point in riding in the rain if you don’t have too.

Normally run 98 but out here it’s difficult to find. Get less k’s to reserve on 95 and significantly less on 91. Anyone else find this? Yes, I found that. The forums collective thoughts can be found here -> Petrol Post Keep posting the travels - very enjoyable.

Jack,
Two ways from the Towers to Cairns. Nothing of interest between the Towers and Townsville except the Mingela pub at the top of the range. The other way is up the Lynd Hwy. (plenty of roadkill still) with fuel available at Greenvale and the Georgetown turnoff which accesses the nearby Undara Caves. A bit longer but this'll bring you to Mt. Garnet at the back of the Atherton Tablelands. The Tablelands is the jewel in the areas crown. Cairns for me is an overpriced tourist shithole. Beautiful area with heaps to explore although cold this time of year. Three ways down to Cairns: - Kuranda Range (steep, windy as in corners and very busy, The Gilles Hwy. a solo riders paradise (steep and windy again, not so busy) except when blitzed by the constabulary which brings you out at Gordonvale south of Cairns or the Palmerston which puts you down to Innisfail where you will get rained on. Nice flowing road and some good spots to see.
Just thought I'd mention it in case you're not familiar wIth the area. Save you one run on the coast road which is pretty ordinary road condition and traffic wise.
Cheers
Deano
