Nuttbush booking problem appears to have been a STAFF issue....incompetance or deliberate. The owner, Julie has been super appologetic.
Heather and I will now be staying in Pordagutta for a variety of reasons other than the Nuttbush booking hassle.
Cheers

I have been advised by Mt Ives Station due to a recent cancellation they now have 2 stone hut rooms available for anyone in our group that maybe interested at $90 a night . Mt Ives also mentioned they will be having a fuel delivery just prior to our arrival, good to hear !
Kimba Council advise that they monitor the roads on a regular basis but it would seem Mt Ives has a more up to date local knowledge on the road conditions. I shall post more info on this closer to the end of March.
I shall be trailering my Ural over and most likely book accommodation at the Stirling North Fuller View Cabins on the Tuesday night, local pub is walking distance [ 200m ] they do great meals.
Port Augusta has lots of accommodation, just be careful when crossing the bridge since the speed reduction due to the state of repairs has the local "Radar" reeling in the $ in fines.
Kimba: Are we all good to meet at the Kimba Cafe : 43 High St opposite the Post Office around 12:00 noon . Port Augusta to Kimba is 160km then onto Mt Ives is 110km The section of road from the water tanks west of P Aug to Kimba has lots of thick scrub which the local Roos just love to hide and jump out to say hi so be vigilant, like having a good coffee for heart rate fluctuations.
S.A. National Parks Pass for the Gawler Ranges & Port Lincoln can be purchased on line or at the District Council of Kimba at 35 West Tce Kimba also at Port Augusta the Wadlata Outback Centre does this service located at 41 Flinders Tce.

More info for the Gawler Ranges & Lincoln National Park.
Park maps in your pocket: Download PDF maps for Avenza. If you have a smartphone or tablet you can download the free Avenza PDF Map app and have interactive national parks maps on hand when you need them. The app uses your device`s built-in GPS to plot your real time location within the park onto a map. The app can be used without a network connection and without roaming charges. You can also measure area and distance, plot photos and drop place mark pins.
How to get it working on your device: 1. Download the Avenza PDF Maps app store while you are still in range [ its free ] 2. Open up the app and click the shopping cart icon. 3. Click "find" and type the name of the national park or reserve you are looking for. 4. Click on the map you are after and install it [ all national parks South Australia maps are always free ] 5. You will now find a list of your installed maps on the home page of Avenza app. 6. Use the maps through the Avenza PDF Map app while in the park and never take a wrong turn again.
Just be careful as other maps will appear for a fee, keep looking for the SA National Parks map as they are indeed free . Cheers

Enroute to Mt Ives Station: Some of you may ask why take the road from Kimba when another option is the turn off near Iron Knob which maybe a more direct route for most of us .
The road from Kimba is serviced more frequently by graders whereas the Iron Knob road has always been a much more defunct route, also NO Fuel is available at Iron Knob, the only facilities now are a toilet block, a small store and museum, non of which have regular hours.
The National Parks South Australia entry pass can be purchased on line. It would seem the 60day multi entry pass would be my choice and its just a pass per vehicle not per person.
Book and pay online or find an agent at : parks.sa.gov.au
Cheers

Hi Ural friends,
Our SA Ural tour is approaching fast now and I thought it timely to check and confirm those joining us. We don't need to be looking all over SA for someone we are expecting to turn up when they have chosen not to attend. It has been a long while since the planning and initial commitments were made and I understand how life gets in the way sometimes, so it is understandable some may not now make it.
If you still intend to join us could you please inform me either by return message.. I would appreciate having your mobile number please. Our intention is to meet at KIMBA 12:00 noon Wednesday 4th. and continue on to Mt.Ives from there. If you are coming but will not be at Kimba, please let me know.
My phone number has been sent via Email to those previously committed.
cheers all, lee

I'll be departing Ippy in a couple of days for Mt Ive Stn. I may be without comms since my phone has died. Not sure how many are confirmed, but I guess I will find out on the 4th. The only bookings I have made are 2 nights at Nuttbush 2nd & 3rd. I'll be hoping for the best for the rest of the nights. I expect to have my spot tracker working. Look on my Fb page after Wed for the link if you are wondering whether I'm going to make it on time. (Chris Davy) on Fb.

Got a new phone today. Its nice to know that something happens when you push a button and you're not just standing there waiting and hoping for something to happen. Looking forward to catching up with everyone. Cheers to "happy hours" from, Chris D in Ippy.
