Hi Guys my name is Kev, I don't own one of these machines but do a lot of tuning on bikes including all the latest Euro 5 ECU's, feel free to google my user name kevxtx to see what I get up to, wilmo contacted me asking if I could have a look at the problems, you guys are having with the Euro 5 ECU pinging.
I have sorted a few bikes over the years with either an add on mod or reflashing the actual ECU, this is my hobby for me, looking for ways to improve riders' bikes, not promising anything but might be able to help after a bit of research on how your Euro 5 ECU thinks & to see if your bikes respond to one of my mods.
I build a few different fuel mods & reflash ECU with my own custom tunes, I build a 02 sensor controller to correct the closed loop AFR for KTMs & a few Yamaha's, these controllers offset the live signals from the 02 sensor in real time it is not an 02 eliminator & sends a lean AFR voltage signal to the ECU, the ECU responds with a richer closed loop AFR, my master 02 controller is adjustable so I can target the correct AFR in the closed loop then build fixed version for riders.
I also have Adjustable fuel mods that connects to the Air Temp sensors which wilmo mentioned, these work across the whole map range as long as the ECU does not have a 02 sensor, if a bike has a 02 sensor we first need to control the closed loop AFR & then if we can fit the adjustable fuel to add fuel in the open loop.
The closed loop area on a Euro 5 ECU is approx: 2% to 40% throttle openings.
The open loop area is over 40% to 100 % throttles.
Looking at your problem area I would say we would need to look at the closed loop area first, firstly I need a detailed wiring diagram of the bike in question & possibly a bike in Brisbane to work with that owner who could do some testing for us.
