The problem still has not been resolved, I have left it with the dealer in Perth about a month ago, so unless it gets sorted by the end of March I will be asking for the bike to be replaced. SAD. It is not a ‘space shuttle’ You’re quite correct, a competent mechanic should be able to determine the root cause fairly quickly, this isn’t an intermittent issue. Perhaps it says much about the manufacturer and the local Ural support

This morning riding in the dark with Phil and Beth we were doing 90kmph, both head pipes were glowing red hot right down past the pre cats.
Had never ridden in the almost dark prior so this was somewhat of a surprise to see both of them glowing.
To my way of thinking this isn't normal either.
Anyone elses glow in the dark?

The bike has now been with the dealer nearly three months without any resolution on the horizon. My opinion of the owner is that he is a paragon of patience. Not sure for how much longer! My opinion of the dealer is not fit for public consumption. This matter is beyond any understanding, if it continues much more, the dealer will have had it longer than the owner. I wonder if Ural Australia visit this forum? I reckon it’s highly unlikely Ural USA do.

Not sure if the elephant is still in the room or not. Does Ural Australia know about this? Or even better, contact Ilya at IMWA. to flag the issue.

I believe Mat has been involved, I’m told his frustration is tangible. I’m also given to understand that Ural USA have been involved, but have been of little positive assistance having their ineffective rectification suggestions carried out. Besides the investigations the owner has done I’ve heard cylinders have been changed, pistons have been changed, injectors tested among a myriad of other things. I’d be looking a little deeper into the guts of the power plant, or, swap out the power plant, but what do I know? As a Ural owner the length of the debacle and lack of a resolution goes down like a plate of cold sick. Ural may be a boutique operation but for me this represents stunning contempt for the customer and complete indifference to product quality. This can be fixed, it requires someone to get off their arse and do it.

Frustration is understandable but it really comes diwn to the people with the bike performing the diagnosis. This is something I have been involved with all my working life and I have come across some dooozies. One example was a twisted camshaft. Unfortunately the. bike in question is in WA and “working from home” often just does not cut it with diagnosis.
From everything I have read, it is obviously an obscure issue that may require a thought or two outside the box. It is easy to get blinkered with power issues and it may turn out to be something tight in the drive-line.

If it runs to 95 in third, it should get to 120 in fourth on a flat road with an average load. Mine does, but I did need to do some fettling with cables and balance etc before it would. It's also freed up quite well now it has 20,000 km on it.
I wonder...... I went to Tassie with a couple of mates who both hired Enfield 500s. Mick managed to be able to get his up to 120, Ken couldn't get past 90. I had a ride on Ken's and got it to 120. I only weigh 90kg. Ken weighed 125kg.....
In Bozo's case, I'd be looking into the fourth gear area of the gearbox. It could just be running a little tight on a selector? Perhaps? Who knows. Apparently there is a dealer in WA who has a dyno, perhaps that's another way to go.
Mat knows about it, we had a brief chat last week at the "Try a Ural Day", but got interrupted, so don't know what the current situation is. In any case, hopefully it's sorted soon. I'd hate to be without mine for a long period.

Personally, it's not the problem that gets me, it's the support or, lack thereof. This is the twenty-first century, we're dealing with a drive line created nearly ninety years ago! Almost three months into it and still no further forward since 2022, I don't consider this acceptable. Stiil, this isn't my problem, I just choke on the injustice. Nuff said.

Ural Aus are 4000km away and relying on the dealer. They and I believe Ural US HQ have offered suggestions to no avail.
Options might likely be: Transport the bike back to Aus HQ……. Replace bike with new Replace mechanic with new
